Good news: no contribution for personal care from 1 October 2026
From 1 October 2026, the Australian Government fully funds personal care under the Support at Home program. That means you no longer pay a contribution for personal care.
What this covers
Help with:
showering and bathing
dressing
eating
personal hygiene
non-clinical continence care
taking your medication
Who it applies to
It applies if personal care is approved in your support plan and you have Support at Home funds available. The cost is still paid from your Support at Home budget, but you won't be asked to contribute towards it.
What hasn't changed
Personal care delivered before 1 October 2026 still attracts the usual contribution. Everything else stays the same: the same carers, the same services and the same approval process. Contributions for other services, like everyday living and independence supports, are unchanged.
